Launched in 2008, Tradefair are one of the newer breeds of spread betting platforms. Tradefair was developed by the owners of the world’s largest sports betting exchange, Betfair.
The UK-based Tradefair is part of a franchise that has turned the traditional betting industry on to its head. Its spread betting operations since 2008 have proved almost as successful as their sports betting exchange, with around 20-30% growth per annum in the UK and a very modern platform to begin trading across 2,000 markets on.

Range of Markets
Tradefair boasts more than 2,000 markets for users to spread bet across, including financial indices such as AIM, FTSE, DowJones, commodities, securities, interest rates/government bonds and FOREX currency pairings. Although this is a lot smaller than major platforms such as City Index (which offers 7,000), many of Tradefair’s operations and markets are UK-orientated for their users.
The tight spreads offered by Tradefair are very competitive; 1 point spreads are available on the FTSE Daily, 3 points for Dow Jones Daily, and 2 and 3 points on the EUR/USD and GBP/USD pairs. The minimum stakes is £1 which is also reasonably good (the same as Capital Spreads and City Index), and the low deposit margins for the FTSE mean that you can place trades worth up £30 with just a £1 deposit.
An added feature at Tradefair not provided by other platforms is that you can also wager on binary betting, known as Hi Lo Spreads. This allows you to wager a fixed amount of money on whether the markets will move above or below a certain level at the end of a 5 minute or 20 minute period. This fun form of speculating takes a lot of the hassle out of trading and is very addictive.
New spread bettors in particular will enjoy the simplistic platform at Tradefair. You can start out with a Demo account, which gives you £10,000 in play money to invest on the simulated markets without any risk. This also lets you become acquainted with the software and the various stop-loss and safety features.
One great feature on Tradefair’s online trading platform is the educational tools including spread betting articles/guides, videos and seminars where you can learn about different forms of trading strategies. Signing up to Tradefair and depositing also gets you a free copy of “The Little Black Book” – which provides a wealth of advanced information on how to trade profitably.
Tradefair iPhone App – Mobile Trading Platform
The Tradefair iPhone App is available to live account customers and can be downloaded either from the website or the Apple App Store. The Tradefair App is pretty nifty and provides a safe and secure way for you to access your Tradefair account. In addition to viewing your account summary and history, you can also open/close trades, see the latest market prices, edit your existing orders and view a range of technical charts to help you make analyse markets (including Bollinger Bands, MACD and TSI’s).
Overall, Tradefair provides a new and user-friendly platform for new traders to get into spread betting. Tradefair has the highest customer support and a solid Demo account for those not looking to deposit straight away.
